New Delhi, September 2: Former Chhattisgarh Deputy Chief Minister T.S. Singh Deo has raised questions regarding India’s reported 7.8% GDP growth. He stated that the government has mastered the art of presenting data to suit its convenience, and only time will reveal the truth behind these figures. He also expressed concern over rising prices of sugar and commercial LPG cylinders, noting that these increases will directly impact restaurants, hotels, and consumers.
Regarding the GDP growth, Singh Deo remarked, “This government has indeed perfected the art of presenting data to suit its narrative. Is it really as portrayed, or is there another side to the story? Only time will tell.”
He emphasized that analysis takes time, and economists will evaluate the situation and present their findings. If the growth rate is genuinely 7.8%, it would be a positive development.
Singh Deo pointed out that sugar prices have surpassed 75, and rising costs of commercial LPG cylinders will burden consumers, particularly in establishments like restaurants and hotels. “If prices increase in these sectors, everything will become more expensive for consumers. This is a matter of concern,” he added.
He criticized the BJP, claiming that a government that seeks to take credit for the hard work of diligent Indians is disrespecting them. The BJP leadership has consistently attempted to portray that they possess a magical solution, suggesting that the citizens are merely passive while all progress is attributed to their efforts.
On Rahul Gandhi‘s statements regarding the economy, Singh Deo noted that not only Gandhi but many others are expressing worries that the country’s economic condition and the reported GDP growth may not be as positive as the government claims.
