Comprehensive Development Plan for Braj Region Announced by CM Yogi Adityanath

Vrindavan, March 7: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath emphasized the significance of the Braj region as a vital center of faith, culture, and spiritual tradition in India. He stated that the state government is committed to the development of the Braj area while honoring its traditions and the faith of its devotees.

He highlighted that the government prioritizes the preservation of pilgrimage sites, enhancing facilities for devotees, environmental protection, cleanliness, infrastructure development, and the promotion of cultural heritage. This initiative aims to strengthen the identity of the Braj region and improve the amenities available to visitors.

CM Yogi Adityanath chaired the eighth board meeting of the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Development Council on Saturday. During the meeting, projects worth approximately ₹300 crore were approved. Several significant proposals related to the overall development of the Braj region, preservation of pilgrimage sites, and expansion of facilities for devotees received approval.

The meeting took place at the regional office of the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority in Vrindavan. Discussions included a proposal to develop an 11.80-kilometer stretch of the Mathura-Vrindavan railway line into a four-lane road.

The Chief Minister instructed the Public Works Department, Braj Teerth Development Council, and district administration to coordinate with the railway department for necessary actions regarding land or land valuation. He also called for a feasibility study on the proposed pod rapid transit system. Additionally, he directed relevant departments to expedite the implementation of the development plan for the famous 84-kos Parikrama route in Braj.

The meeting decided to develop parking, TPO, and other public facilities in Govardhan, Mathura, and Vrindavan on a PPP model. Instructions were also given to expedite the transfer of land identified for the proposed water museum in Azizpur village of the Chhata area from the irrigation department to the council.

The Chief Minister praised the eco-restoration project for 36 forests in the Braj region and directed a large-scale tree plantation campaign during the upcoming monsoon season. He emphasized including water conservation, saline water treatment, and public participation in this initiative.

Discussions also covered the heritage city being developed under the Yamuna Expressway Industrial Development Authority. The meeting agreed on plans to develop a waterway between Mathura and Vrindavan under the Yamuna River Front project, initiating cruise and boat operations on a PPP model. Furthermore, instructions were given to ensure the deployment of necessary personnel for the operation of the Surdas Braj Academy in Parasoli, Govardhan.

While approving the budget for the proposed projects in the council’s 2025-26 action plan, the Chief Minister instructed that there should be no cuts to the budget of the approved projects and that they should be implemented promptly. Emphasis was also placed on enhancing cleanliness, safety, and infrastructure for the convenience of devotees in urban bodies. The water corporation and municipal corporation were directed to expedite the construction of STPs, SPS, and pumping stations to reduce pollution in the Yamuna River.

CM Yogi instructed the Uttar Pradesh Braj Teerth Development Council to ensure compliance with the established guidelines across various departments and to pay special attention to cleanliness in the entire Braj region, including Mathura and Vrindavan.

On this occasion, the Chief Minister launched a Donation Management Digital System. According to the key decisions made during the meeting, the process for developing an 11.80-kilometer four-lane road in place of the Mathura-Vrindavan railway track will be expedited. Necessary directives have been issued to the Public Works Department and the Charitable Works Department for the development of the 84-kos Parikrama route in Braj.

Parking and other public facilities in Mathura, Vrindavan, and Govardhan will be developed through the PPP model. The plan to develop a waterway for cruise and boat operations between Mathura and Vrindavan will also be advanced.

Additionally, the eco-restoration of 36 forests and a large-scale tree plantation campaign for environmental protection in the Braj region will be encouraged, and the process of transferring the identified land for the proposed water museum in Azizpur village will be expedited.
