Jammu, July 1: The Lieutenant Governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Manoj Sinha, has expressed gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari. This appreciation comes following the completion of the 810-meter-long viaduct near Ramsoo and the 3.5-kilometer-long AT-03 tunnel connecting Digdool to Panthyal.
The Lieutenant Governor stated that under the leadership of the Prime Minister and the Union Minister, there has been a rapid improvement in highway and road connectivity in Jammu and Kashmir. This project marks a significant achievement in enhancing connectivity in the region.
He highlighted that the construction of the 810-meter-long viaduct and the 3.5-kilometer-long AT-03 tunnel on NH-44 is a major milestone. This project will ensure safe and convenient travel for local residents, tourists, freight vehicles, and security forces.
The Lieutenant Governor noted that this infrastructure is particularly crucial for the pilgrims of the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra 2026, as it will facilitate safe and uninterrupted travel while avoiding landslide-prone areas. He described it as a historic step towards strengthening Jammu and Kashmir’s road network.
These key road projects are scheduled to open for traffic on July 3, 2026. Meanwhile, the 3.5-kilometer-long AT-03 southbound tunnel in Ramban district is now ready for traffic. The opening of this tunnel, which connects Panthyal to Digdool, is anticipated to provide a safe, fast, and all-weather route, avoiding dangerous paths like ‘Khooni Nala’ and Panthyal ahead of the Amarnath Yatra 2026.
Constructed by Sarla Project Works Private Limited at an approximate cost of ₹846 crores, the AT-03 tunnel is one of the most critical infrastructure projects on the Jammu-Srinagar National Highway. This project will enhance travel on one of India’s most vital road corridors, improve safety, reduce travel time, and facilitate smoother traffic flow.
