Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi Arrives in New Delhi to Strengthen Bilateral Ties

New Delhi, July 1: Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi arrived in New Delhi on Wednesday evening for an official visit. She was warmly welcomed by Union Minister Dr. Jitendra Singh upon her arrival.

This visit marks a significant step in strengthening the relationship between Japan and India. It is Takaichi’s first trip to India since taking office, and it will span three days.

Ministry of External Affairs spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal expressed on social media platform X, “A warm welcome to Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi on her official visit. This visit, welcomed by Union Minister (Independent Charge) Dr. Jitendra Singh, is a crucial step towards advancing the special strategic and global partnership between India and Japan.”

During her three-day visit, Takaichi is scheduled to engage in high-level talks with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Both leaders will participate in the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit, where they will discuss key issues such as trade, investment, defense, semiconductors, artificial intelligence, automobiles, supply chains, and security in the Indo-Pacific region.

Before departing for India, Takaichi emphasized the growing importance of collaboration with India amid current global circumstances during a press conference. She noted that both countries are advancing a strong partnership based on shared democratic values and strategic interests.

The Japanese Prime Minister further stated, “We will place special emphasis on elevating economic cooperation between our two nations.” She assured that concrete steps would be taken to enhance partnerships in investment, trade, infrastructure, technology, and other strategic areas.

Takaichi expressed confidence that her visit would provide new momentum for economic, strategic, and industrial cooperation between the two countries, fostering a robust and sustainable economic partnership through joint participation from both public and private sectors.
