Glasgow, August 2: The Commonwealth Games 2026 has reached its final phase, culminating in an upcoming closing ceremony. This event will officially mark the end of the Games held in Glasgow. During the ceremony, Ahmedabad will be announced as the host city for the Commonwealth Games 2030, with the Commonwealth flag and baton being handed over to the Indian representatives present in Glasgow. Among the delegation is Harsh Sanghvi, the Deputy Chief Minister of Gujarat.
Sanghvi stated, “The closing ceremony of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games is about to begin. It will be a historic event. The Indian team is fully prepared. The world will witness our culture during the ceremony. Our athletes have performed exceptionally well in Glasgow over the past few days.”
He further emphasized, “Ahmedabad is preparing a world-class, international-grade sporting infrastructure to fulfill the dreams of all the youth in India. This infrastructure will not be limited to Ahmedabad or Gujarat. Every young athlete across the country can consider Ahmedabad their home to achieve their dreams.”
Sanghvi expressed gratitude to the Prime Minister, saying, “While our country’s sons and daughters were winning medal after medal at the Commonwealth Games, Prime Minister Modi increased the budget for athletes eightfold. This clearly demonstrates his commitment.”
The Commonwealth Games 2030 will mark its centenary, making the event in Ahmedabad particularly special. Preparations are already underway to ensure that the Commonwealth Games 2030 is grand and successful.
The Indian contingent has performed remarkably well in the current Games, securing 13 gold, 17 silver, and 9 bronze medals, placing them fourth overall.
