
New Delhi, August 29: In a thrilling match at the Delhi Premier League 2026, Central Delhi Kings secured their spot in the finals by defeating Old Delhi-6 by 72 runs. The final will see Central Delhi Kings face off against South Delhi Superstars on August 30.
Old Delhi-6 won the toss and opted to bowl first. Central Delhi Kings batted brilliantly, scoring 218 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their 20 overs. Captain Jonty Sidhu, batting at number four, played a spectacular innings, scoring an unbeaten 106 runs off just 46 balls, including 10 sixes and 5 fours. His performance was crucial in setting a formidable target. Support came from Samarth Singh with 25 runs, Aditya Bhandari with 24, and Siddharth June contributing 20 runs.
For Old Delhi-6, Pankaj Jaswal took 2 wickets, while Rajneesh Dadar, Uddhav Mohan, and Dev Lakra each claimed 1 wicket.
Chasing a target of 219 runs, Old Delhi-6 struggled significantly. They were bowled out for just 146 runs in 17.4 overs, losing by a substantial margin of 72 runs. Opener Samarth Seth scored 45 runs off 28 balls, while Dhananjay Singh added 34 runs off 21 balls. Rajneesh Dadar contributed 25 runs off 10 balls, but no other batsman could withstand Central Delhi’s bowling attack.
Jonty Sidhu shone with the ball as well, claiming 3 wickets for 25 runs in 3 overs. Tejas Baroka took 2 wickets for 19 runs in 4 overs, while Gavnish Khurana, Moni Grewal, and Aatre Tripathi also made significant contributions to the bowling effort.
The DPL 2026 men’s final will take place between Central Delhi Kings and South Delhi Superstars on August 30 at 8 PM.
