Gorakhpur, June 14: Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath held a review meeting on Sunday at the Annex Building, focusing on the Public Works Department (PWD) projects in Gorakhpur and Azamgarh divisions. During the meeting, he sought updates from senior officials regarding the progress of ongoing and upcoming projects in both divisions.
The Chief Minister emphasized the need to accelerate road construction efforts on a war footing, ensuring that all work is completed on time and meets quality standards. He specifically instructed officials to prioritize projects ahead of the monsoon season to ensure timely completion.
The Principal Secretary of the Public Works Department presented a report on last year’s activities during the meeting. CM Yogi directed that road work should commence immediately based on proposals received from public representatives, allowing citizens to benefit directly. He urged that all necessary approvals be secured by the end of June, followed by the initiation of construction work. He stressed that work should only begin after ensuring all necessary resources are in place to avoid interruptions.
In light of the 2026-27 work plan, CM Yogi instructed PWD officials to prioritize road construction in all assembly constituencies of Gorakhpur and Azamgarh. He requested that the work plan be made available immediately to facilitate timely fund approvals and that the tender process be completed promptly. To expedite the projects, he advised the respective commissioners and district magistrates to hold regular meetings for progress reviews.
The Chief Minister highlighted the importance of effective monitoring of the projects, instructing officials to conduct site inspections and ensure online monitoring through technology.
CM Yogi also stressed the need for safety standards in the operations of the Bridge Corporation. He insisted that there should be no compromise on the safety of workers, ensuring that they are provided with adequate safety kits. All departments must collaborate effectively.
Additionally, CM Yogi inquired about the progress of the under-construction ‘Mohan Setu’ in Deoria. He directed officials to inspect the worksite and expedite the bridge construction. He also mentioned that contractors who are bidding below the tender amount should be closely monitored and identified.
