Patna, June 18: Union Minister and National President of the Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas), Chirag Paswan, addressed several political issues on Wednesday. He commented on West Bengal‘s former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee’s challenge to the Bhawanipur assembly election results in the High Court, the meeting between Prime Minister Narendra Modi and U.S. President Donald Trump, and allegations related to RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav’s housing dispute.
Regarding Mamata Banerjee’s challenge to the Bhawanipur assembly election results, Paswan stated that any candidate or political party has the right to question election results and seek legal recourse. He emphasized that if someone believes there was an error in the counting or results, they can pursue judicial action, and Banerjee is exercising her rights.
Advising opposition parties to engage in self-reflection, he noted that accepting defeat with humility is a healthy democratic tradition. Instead of making excuses or blaming others after electoral losses, it is crucial to analyze the reasons behind the defeat. Paswan pointed out that the main issue for the opposition is their tendency to seek excuses rather than accept their losses. He asserted that the day opposition parties begin serious self-reflection, they will see improvements in their performance.
On the meeting between Prime Minister Modi and President Trump, Paswan remarked that during the G-7 summit, leaders from various countries meet each other. He stated that Modi and Trump’s meeting was part of this diplomatic engagement.
In response to Lalu Prasad Yadav’s allegation that former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is evicting him from his residence, Paswan explained that the process of vacating government accommodations is governed by rules and regulations. He mentioned that he too had to vacate a government residence at one time, and such actions should not be viewed politically.
Regarding former Chief Minister Rabri Devi’s request for additional time to vacate her residence, Paswan offered a balanced response. He stated that if time is requested to improve the system or to facilitate the transfer process, it is not a complicated issue. He expressed confidence that the state government would consider this positively and mentioned that he would personally discuss the matter with the Chief Minister.
