Beijing, February 26: The Chinese Ministry of Commerce held a regular press conference on February 26. Responding to questions about the upcoming sixth round of US-China trade consultations, spokesperson He Yongqian stated that China and the United States have maintained continuous communication at all levels through the US-China trade consultation mechanism.

China is prepared to work with the United States to implement and safeguard the agreements made during the Busan meeting and the phone call between the two heads of state on February 4. This collaboration aims to manage differences through equal consultations, expand practical cooperation, and maintain the healthy, stable, and sustainable development of economic and trade relations between China and the US, benefiting both nations and the world.

In response to a question regarding export controls on Japan, spokesperson He Yongqian noted that Japan has recently accelerated its military buildup, attempted to lift restrictions on arms exports, developed aggressive military forces, and sought to amend its “three non-nuclear principles.” This reflects a dangerous trend of Japan’s “re-militarization” and efforts to acquire nuclear weapons, posing a threat to regional and global peace.

On February 24, China included relevant Japanese entities in its export control and monitoring lists to prevent Japan’s “re-militarization” and nuclear weapons acquisition efforts. This action is entirely legitimate, rational, and legal.

Regarding German Chancellor Friedrich Merz’s visit to China, He Yongqian mentioned that China and Germany have engaged in in-depth discussions in economic and trade sectors, yielding positive and practical results. During his meeting with Chancellor Merz, Chinese President Xi Jinping emphasized that China and Germany should become open, mutually beneficial, and innovative partners.

Both sides should align their development strategies and promote dialogue and cooperation in cutting-edge fields like artificial intelligence. This will pave the way for deeper economic and trade cooperation between China and Germany.
