China and US Foreign Ministers Discuss Relations Over Phone

Beijing, July 2: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi spoke with US Secretary of State Marco Rubio on June 30.

Wang Yi emphasized that establishing a relationship characterized by constructive strategic stability is a hope for both nations’ citizens and the international community. It aligns with the core interests of both countries. The two sides should work together to remove obstacles and stay firmly on the right path.

He noted that in May, Presidents Xi Jinping and Trump reached significant agreements in Beijing regarding the establishment of constructive relations between China and the US. These agreements will guide the development of China-US relations for the next three years and beyond. Both sides should translate the key agreements of their leaders into concrete policy actions.

Wang Yi stated that both parties should expand their list of cooperation while minimizing the list of issues to control various threats. The Taiwan issue is linked to the overall situation, and he hopes the US will handle Taiwan-related matters with caution.

Both sides agree that the conversation was positive and constructive. They are committed to implementing the key agreements of their leaders and continuing flexible dialogue.
