Chief Ministers Urge Tobacco Cessation on World No Tobacco Day

New Delhi, May 31: Today, May 31, marks World No Tobacco Day, aimed at raising awareness about the severe health risks associated with tobacco and smoking. In this context, several state chief ministers have appealed to the public to stay away from tobacco and embrace a healthier lifestyle.

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath expressed on social media, “Tobacco consumption not only leads to incurable diseases but also has serious economic and social impacts on families. Let us all pledge to stay away from tobacco on this World No Tobacco Day and inspire others to do the same for a healthier and empowered society.”

Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya also urged people to quit tobacco. He stated, “World No Tobacco Day is a significant opportunity to promote a healthy life and an aware society. Smoking is harmful not just to health but also negatively affects families and communities. Let us commit to a drug-free and healthy lifestyle and actively participate in raising awareness about the adverse effects of smoking among youth and society.”

Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajanlal Sharma wrote, “On this World No Tobacco Day, let us all resolve to stay away from tobacco and work towards a drug-free society! Tobacco is not only fatal to health but also affects the happiness of families and communities. By adopting a healthy lifestyle, we can build a strong, aware, and prosperous nation.”

Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav posted, “World No Tobacco Day reminds us to stay away from tobacco and inspire others for a healthy life. Tobacco consumption is the root cause of many serious diseases.”

Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde emphasized, “Life is beautiful; do not let it be tainted by tobacco addiction. Avoid tobacco and take care of your health.”

Bihar government minister Vishw Vijay Kumar Sinha urged, “On this No Smoking Day, let us collectively resolve to eliminate smoking and other harmful vices from society. Take an oath for a drug-free life with your family, friends, and community, and take a step towards a healthy, safe, and happy future. ‘Quit addiction, embrace life,’ let us move one step closer to life.”
