He paid tribute on the social media platform ‘X’, stating, “A humble tribute to the renowned poet Dr. Bashir Badr, who was honored with the Padma Shri. My condolences are with the grieving family.”
In his post, Chief Minister Yadav highlighted that Dr. Badr conveyed messages of sensitivity, warmth, and humanity through his works. Dr. Bashir Badr was born on February 15, 1935, in Ayodhya. His real name was Syed Mohammad Bashir. He received his education from Aligarh Muslim University and later became a professor of Urdu at Meerut College. Alongside teaching, his poetry carved a special place in the hearts of many.
In the 1970s and 80s, his ghazals gained recognition both nationally and internationally. One of his greatest strengths was his ability to present Urdu poetry in a language accessible to the common person, moving away from complex vocabulary.
