Gandhinagar, August 27: According to information released by the State Emergency Operations Center (SEOC) and district emergency centers, 11 individuals connected to Gujarat are reported missing or out of contact following the devastating floods in Nepal. Most of these cases involve pilgrims traveling via the Kailash Mansarovar route through Kerung.
The list includes three individuals from Ahmedabad, two from Anand, one from Rajkot, and three from Surat, along with one American citizen of Indian origin and one Australian citizen.
A person from Valsad has been confirmed safe in Nepal.
Among the missing are Ahmedabad residents Kinari Patel and Mihir Patel, who were traveling with Richa Tours Private Limited along the Kailash Mansarovar route through Kerung. Their families last made contact with them on Wednesday morning. Ashokbhai Kapadi from Ahmedabad was last in touch around 8:30 AM on Wednesday.
Reports indicate that Bimal Kumar Patel and Jaiminaben Patel from Anand are on a Kailash Mansarovar trip with Namaste Nepal Trekking and Research Hub, and they have not been reachable. Both are American citizens of Indian descent.
The SEOC has also received information about Jay Kotecha, who was traveling near the Rasuwagadhi-Kerung border at the Friendship Bridge-Bhote Koshi River corridor. He is a resident of Rajkot, although his family stated he resides in Mumbai.
According to district administration reports, Roma Intwala from Valsad, initially reported missing, has been confirmed safe in Nepal.
Three individuals from Surat (Pareshbhai Patel, Jyotibhen Patel, and Meenakshiben Ramani) have not been in contact for the past 24 hours. Pareshbhai and Jyotibhen live in the United States, while Meenakshiben resides in Mumbai.
The remaining cases involve American citizen Dineshbhai Patel from Amreli and Australian citizen Bhavinkumar Rawal from Mehsana. Rawal was traveling with a group of 26 people and was last in contact on Wednesday morning.
These reports come as large-scale search and rescue operations continue in Nepal following the floods in Rasuwa and surrounding districts.
According to statistics released by the Nepal government on Thursday morning, the death toll stands at 165, while 826 individuals, including 579 tourists, are still reported missing. Later reports indicated that the death toll could be significantly higher, with Nepal police confirming 270 fatalities after bodies were recovered.
