Mumbai, August 27: The Maharashtra government is actively gathering information about state tourists stranded in the Nepal-Tibet region due to severe floods, landslides, and earthquakes.
Disaster Management Minister Girish Mahajan confirmed on Thursday that state officials are in constant contact with the central government, and relief operations are functioning around the clock.
Mahajan reported that officials have successfully contacted four tourists and confirmed their safety. The administration has collected details of approximately 80 individuals. However, communication in the affected areas has been severely disrupted due to damaged mobile networks and landline services.
A group of tourists, organized by Richard Tours and Travels, had traveled to Mansarovar in two vehicles. The safety of around 37 passengers from one vehicle has been confirmed. Despite significant disruptions in transport caused by landslides, efforts to locate the remaining tourists are ongoing.
Mahajan urged families not to panic, emphasizing that both central and state agencies are making every effort to locate and assist every traveler from Maharashtra. He also mentioned that all district collectors in Maharashtra have been instructed to compile a list of residents who recently traveled to the Nepal-Tibet region.
The state government has appealed to families and the public to share any available information regarding the stranded individuals.
To streamline the information-gathering process and provide immediate relief, the Maharashtra State Disaster Management Authority has launched a dedicated online portal and a 24/7 helpline.

Mahajan encouraged family members of tourists in Nepal to submit complete information through the official link or to contact the control room directly.
