Raipur, August 2 (H.S.) – Chhattisgarh has emerged as one of the top-performing states in the implementation of the Ayushman Bharat–Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY), ranking fourth nationwide in terms of treatments provided. This achievement reflects the state government’s commitment to delivering inclusive and accessible healthcare, especially for economically weaker sections.

The state has effectively integrated AB-PMJAY with its two flagship schemes — the Shaheed Veer Narayan Singh Ayushman Health Scheme and the Mukhyamantri Vishesh Swasthya Sahayata Yojana. This unified approach has ensured cashless treatment benefits for a larger number of beneficiaries.
To date, over 78 lakh beneficiaries have received free treatment in both public and private hospitals. A significant increase in treatments at government hospitals indicates growing public trust in the state’s healthcare infrastructure.
Focusing on senior citizens, the state has strengthened the Vay Vandana Yojana. Under this scheme, more than 4.5 lakh Vay Vandana cards have been issued, benefitting 48% of elderly citizens holding ration cards.
To promote registration, targeted outreach has been carried out through ASHA workers, gram sabhas, urban health platforms, old-age homes, and residential colonies. A 104 call centre service has also been set up to ensure continuous assistance and engagement. Additionally, six districts have been designated as ‘Vay Mitra Districts’ to further enhance healthcare security for the elderly.
