Varanasi, September 17 (Daily Kiran) : Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday was marked with fervor in his parliamentary constituency of Varanasi on September 17. Supporters gathered to celebrate with religious rituals and Vedic chants along the banks of the Ganges at Ahilyabai Ghat. A group of 76 Brahmin priests performed a ceremonial bathing of the river, using saffron, water, and milk, creating a deeply spiritual atmosphere filled with the sounds of conch shells and drums.
The event commenced early in the morning with prayers dedicated to the Ganges. Under the guidance of Acharya Udit Narayan Mishra, the priests conducted the ritual, wishing for the Prime Minister’s long and healthy life. A 76-meter-long ceremonial cloth was offered to the Ganges, symbolizing devotion and respect. Throughout the program, attendees sang songs wishing for the Prime Minister’s continued success and recited Vedic mantras, culminating in a Ganga Aarti followed by the distribution of sweets.
Dr. Neelkanth Tiwari, a former minister and local MLA, was the chief guest. He remarked on the significance of the day, noting that it coincided with the birthday of Lord Vishwakarma, the divine architect. Tiwari praised Modi as a modern-day craftsman of India, highlighting his visionary leadership focused on national interests and the principle of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Prayas” (Together with all, development for all, efforts from all).
He reflected on Modi’s 25 years of service and the extensive development projects in Varanasi, which include healthcare, infrastructure, and public services. Tiwari emphasized that nearly ₹1 lakh crore worth of projects are currently in progress, with over ₹50,000 crore already completed.
The event’s organizer, Dr. Pawan Kumar Shukla, a senior BJP leader, noted that Modi has transformed Varanasi since becoming Prime Minister. He pointed to significant projects like the Kashi Vishwanath Corridor and improvements in connectivity and infrastructure, which have reshaped the city.
Shukla also highlighted Modi’s commitment to the Ganges, linking it to faith, cultural heritage, and environmental cleanliness. The celebration saw a large turnout of BJP workers and priests, showcasing the community’s strong support for their leader.
