Former Minister Accuses BJP of Hindering Protest Against Vote Theft

Indore, October 9 (Daily Kiran) : Sajjan Singh Verma, a former cabinet minister in Madhya Pradesh, has leveled serious accusations against the BJP government. He claims that the administration is attempting to obstruct a protest at Jantar Mantar, which is in support of Rahul Gandhi and addresses the issue of vote theft. Verma asserts that the government is impeding the participation of youth and Congress workers by blocking trains and other means of transportation to Delhi.

Verma highlighted that Rahul Gandhi has been raising concerns about vote theft across various states for the past two years. However, he argues that the ruling party has consistently ignored these issues. The Congress party has submitted 14 complaints to the Chief Election Commissioner, Gyanesh Kumar, regarding matters related to the Election Commission, but Verma claims no appropriate action has been taken.

He also raised questions about amendments to laws related to voting rights, emphasizing the importance of protecting voter rights and ensuring fair elections within a democratic framework.

Regarding the upcoming protest at Jantar Mantar, Verma accused the government of disrupting transportation to prevent youth from attending. He claimed that trains from places like Indore, Itarsi, and Ratlam heading to Delhi have been halted. Furthermore, he questioned the accessibility of Delhi Metro and other transport services. Despite these hurdles, Verma expressed confidence that young people would still strive to make their voices heard on issues concerning their future and voting rights. He mentioned that parents might also join their children in the protest.

Verma stated that the Congress party seeks accountability regarding questions related to the electoral process. He has called for the resignation of the Chief Election Commissioner and demands stringent legal actions against him.

Responding to comments made by Union Minister Giriraj Singh, who accused Rahul Gandhi of inciting youth and attempting to create situations similar to those in Nepal and Bangladesh, Verma expressed his disapproval. He suggested that Singh should study the issues before making such statements. Verma clarified that Gandhi’s aim is not to incite youth but to advocate for transparency in the electoral process and to highlight voter rights.

He concluded by emphasizing that it is a fundamental requirement of democracy for votes to be recorded in favor of the candidates or political parties chosen by voters. Verma urged BJP leaders to address the serious allegations regarding the disenfranchisement of voters and the ongoing questions surrounding the electoral process.
