Ambedkar Nagar, August 30: Om Prakash Rajbhar, a minister in the Uttar Pradesh government, has targeted Samajwadi Party President Akhilesh Yadav over the JP NIC project. In a recent discussion, Rajbhar questioned whether the JP NIC was built for the public or merely a private residence in Saifai. Initially, the project was estimated to cost ₹200 crore, but the final expenditure ballooned to ₹865 crore. He accused the previous administration of misusing taxpayer money, stating that the Yogi government has decided to reopen the project under a PPP model, which has caused discomfort for Yadav.
Rajbhar further criticized Yadav, claiming that during his tenure, many poor children in Purvanchal lost their lives to encephalitis. He highlighted that over 12 crore people are now receiving free medical treatment. According to Rajbhar, crime rates have significantly decreased since Yadav’s time, with robberies down by 85%, murders by 47%, and rapes by 53%. He noted that during Yadav’s rule, every district had a mafia presence, whereas now, properties of criminals are being seized.
On the occasion of Raksha Bandhan, Rajbhar accused Yadav of mishandling the festival, stating, “You turned the festival into a scam! You announced a reward of ₹11,000, but when women arrived, you handed them envelopes containing only ₹1,100.”
Rajbhar praised the Yogi government for providing 9.5 lakh government jobs through a transparent recruitment process over the past nine years, with plans to issue 1 lakh appointment letters in the next six months. He criticized Yadav’s administration for allegedly selling jobs and only remembering the Jat community during elections.
Regarding the reservation issue, Rajbhar referenced a 2013 High Court ruling that stated only 12 castes were benefiting from 27% OBC reservation. He argued that this should be distributed among other communities. He emphasized that reservation should be for the underprivileged who have yet to join the mainstream of development, asserting that the wealthy should not benefit from such provisions.
