Lucknow, August 30: Divya Mittal, a prominent IAS officer in Uttar Pradesh, has voluntarily resigned from her position after 13 years of dedicated service. Currently serving as the Special Secretary in the Revenue Department, Mittal expressed that while she has left her post, the dreams instilled in her by her homeland remain intact. She reflected on her administrative journey, cherishing the love, respect, and trust she received from the people. Mittal emphasized that behind every government file is a person, and maintaining their dignity is a form of justice. Her heartfelt post has gone viral.
In a poignant message shared on social media, Mittal stated, “Today, I have chosen to conclude my unforgettable journey of 13 years by resigning from the IAS. Growing up in a humble environment, I dreamed of a good and successful life. After working tirelessly to study at IIT Delhi and IIM Bangalore, I secured a job in London. Yet, despite achieving everything, something felt incomplete.”
She expressed a deep longing to be in her own country. “My education, confidence, and the strength to walk with my head held high anywhere in the world are all debts I owe to this soil. I wanted to leave my mark on the bricks that build the India I envisioned. So, I returned and was fortunate to become an IAS officer.”
Mittal continued, “I had the opportunity to do a lot and learned immensely. Deoria taught me that standing for what is right is not an option but a duty. Mirzapur showed me that ‘impossible’ is merely an opinion, not a fact. And sitting at the feet of Maa Vindhyavasini, I learned that power does not come from a position but from grace and the trust of the people.”
She highlighted that her greatest lesson was that while her personal dreams have been fulfilled, it is now time to live the dreams she holds for her people. The true peace in her life came from the eyes of those who first received land rights, the differently-abled individuals who were given the opportunity to live with dignity, and the farmers whose fields were finally irrigated. Through their struggles, she learned that behind every government file is a person, and preserving their dignity is justice.
Mittal reflected, “I was foolish to think I came to give something. The truth is, I gained the most, and that debt continues to grow. People were happier for me than I was for myself. They looked at me with the same trust even when I felt exhausted or broken. This gave me the strength to keep moving forward. I received so much love, respect, and warmth that my heart is full. I owe a great deal to my colleagues, officials, and staff who worked alongside me and stood by me.”
She recounted a touching moment with an elderly woman from Lahuriya Dahi, who, upon witnessing water reach her village for the first time, silently blessed her with trembling hands. “The position may have been relinquished today, but that touch will remain with me for life. And the dream that this land has given me will stay unchanged.”
It is noteworthy that Mittal belongs to the 2013 IAS batch and is currently serving as the Special Secretary in the Revenue Department. She was relieved from her position as Deoria DM on May 6.
