Building Collapses After LPG Cylinder Explosion in Mukundpur

New Delhi, June 2: A building in Mukundpur collapsed following a powerful explosion on Tuesday morning at 9:30 AM. The blast was so intense that the entire structure was reduced to rubble almost instantly. Five fire engines have arrived at the scene, and a rescue operation is currently underway in collaboration with the police.

The Delhi Fire Department reported, “We received information about blast-like sounds and the subsequent collapse of a building in Mukundpur at 9:37 AM. Five fire engines were dispatched immediately. It has been confirmed that a one-story house collapsed due to an LPG cylinder explosion. Search and rescue operations are ongoing.”

According to the Delhi Police, six individuals have sustained injuries. Their current condition is unclear, and further details will be available after medical examinations. The building that collapsed was reportedly used for polishing utensils. Emergency teams are on-site assessing the situation and attempting to rescue those trapped under the debris.

Previously, a multi-story building near Saket Metro Station in South Delhi collapsed, resulting in six fatalities and several injuries. The deceased have been identified as Ravi (24), Kapil (28), Nalin Rai (23), Alok, Parvati (35), and Ekta (24). The injured include Kshitij Pratap (25), Neelam Yadav (25), Anuj Dixit (22), Tarun (25), Saika Khan (27), Aastha (26), Aditya Sharma (24), and Vishal (25).

Chief Minister Rekha Gupta visited the site on Sunday to oversee the relief and rescue operations. She gathered detailed information from the officials present and reviewed the ongoing rescue efforts.

Reports indicate that the building was three stories high at ground level, with construction work taking place on the third floor. Suddenly, the entire structure collapsed, causing a nearby small tin shed in a canteen to fall, where several people were present. Local residents reported that children were also there at the time, eating, and many were trapped under the fallen building.
