New Delhi, July 23: The Delhi Metro has closed 16 stations from 7:30 AM today until further notice due to security concerns. According to the information released by the Delhi Metro, interchange facilities will remain available at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat stations.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’, the Delhi Metro announced that the following stations are closed until further notice: Lok Kalyan Marg, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Ramakrishna Ashram Marg, Barakhamba Road, Supreme Court, Seva Tirth, Janpath, Mandi House, Central Secretariat, ITO, Delhi Gate, Indraprastha, Khan Market, Jor Bagh, and Shivaji Stadium.
Previously, on Wednesday, 16 stations were also closed for security reasons. However, interchange facilities were provided at Rajiv Chowk, Mandi House, and Central Secretariat stations.
The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) reiterated on ‘X’ that the aforementioned stations will remain closed until further notice.
On Sunday, security concerns also led to the closure of Janpath, Rajiv Chowk, Patel Chowk, Central Secretariat, and Seva Tirth metro stations. After some time, interchange facilities were restored at Rajiv Chowk and Central Secretariat, and their gates were reopened.
Meanwhile, the Delhi Police registered 10 FIRs related to violence and law and order issues during the Cockroach Public Party (CJP) march towards Parliament. According to the police, these cases were filed concerning various incidents that occurred during the protest, and investigations are ongoing.
