Body of Missing Indian Student Found in California

Berkeley, February 15: The body of Saket Srinivasaiya, a 22-year-old Indian student, has been discovered in California. He had been missing for six days.

Saket was originally from Karnataka and was pursuing a master’s degree in Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at the University of California, Berkeley.

He was last seen on February 9, approximately one kilometer from the university campus. A citywide search was launched, focusing on areas around Lake Anja and Berkeley Hills.

The Indian Consulate in San Francisco confirmed that local authorities recovered his body. The consulate stated that the family would receive all possible assistance and arrangements were being made to repatriate the remains to India. They expressed deep condolences to the family via a message on social media platform ‘X’ and assured cooperation with all formalities.

During the search, Saket’s backpack was found near a house close to the university, in the Tilden Regional Park area. The backpack contained his passport and laptop.

Saket was an alumnus of IIT Madras and completed his schooling at Sri Vani Education Center in Bengaluru. He stood about six feet tall, weighed approximately 160 pounds, and had short black hair and brown eyes.

He was one of six inventors associated with a patent for a microchannel cooling system for Hyperloop technology. Friends and colleagues described him as intelligent, humble, talented, and trustworthy.

The Indian Consulate has assured that they will provide all possible support to the family during this difficult time.
