BMW Group Surpasses One Million Vehicle Production in Germany in 2025

BMW Group has announced a significant achievement by producing over one million vehicles in Germany during the year 2025. This milestone highlights the company’s pivotal role in the country’s automotive industry, where total vehicle production reached 4.15 million units, according to the German Association of Automotive Industry. BMW’s output accounts for approximately 25 per cent of all vehicles manufactured in Germany last year.

Strong Industrial Competitiveness and Innovation

Milan Nedeljković, member of the Board of Management at BMW AG, emphasised the importance of this accomplishment. He stated, “Our plants provide impressive proof of how competitive German industry is. Producing more than one million vehicles in 2025 is a strong testament to Germany’s innovative strength. To achieve this, we are systematically leveraging innovation and digitalisation. Going forward, policymakers must ensure competitive framework conditions for Germany as an industrial location.”

Flexible Manufacturing Across Four German Plants

BMW operates four manufacturing plants in Germany located in Dingolfing, Leipzig, Munich, and Regensburg. Each plant produces internal combustion engines, plug-in hybrids, and fully electric drivetrains on a single assembly line. This flexibility allows BMW to swiftly adapt to evolving market demands and trends. Vehicles produced in these plants are primarily sold across Europe, aligning with the company’s regionally distributed production strategy. Meanwhile, production volumes in the Americas and China correspond directly to consumer demand in those markets.

Advancements in Electric Vehicle Technology

At the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2026, BMW unveiled the new iX3 electric SUV, which previews the technologies set to be integrated into future BMW Neue Klasse models. The all-new iX3 features the sixth-generation eDrive technology, including advanced electric motors, cylindrical battery cells, and an 800V electrical system. This model’s dual electric motors deliver a combined output of 462.5 bhp and 645 Nm of torque.

BMW claims the iX3 50 xDrive accelerates from 0 to 100 kmph in just 4.9 seconds and reaches a top speed of 210 kmph. The vehicle combines a synchronous motor at the rear with an asynchronous motor at the front, reducing energy losses by 40 per cent, weight by 10 per cent, and manufacturing costs by 20 per cent compared to the previous generation.
