BJPs Strategy to Distract and Divide: Fakhrul Hasan Chand

Lucknow, June 2: Fakhrul Hasan Chand, spokesperson for the Samajwadi Party, launched a verbal assault on the BJP and the central government on Tuesday, addressing multiple issues. He commented on the political situation in West Bengal, delimitation, ‘One Nation, One Election’, encounters in Uttar Pradesh, paper leaks, law and order, the Uniform Civil Code in Madhya Pradesh, and recent statements by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath.

Responding to reports of several lawmakers missing from a meeting led by former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee in West Bengal, Chand accused the BJP of consistently attempting to dismantle opposition parties. He claimed that the violence in Bengal has created an atmosphere of fear among local representatives.

Chand noted that attacks on elected MPs are occurring without any action taken. He questioned why Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Home Minister Amit Shah, who previously responded to incidents in Bengal, have remained silent on the current violence.

On the central government’s moves towards delimitation and ‘One Nation, One Election’, Chand stated that the BJP’s intentions are unclear. He pointed out that while the opposition supported the Women’s Reservation Bill in 2023, the BJP is now pursuing a different agenda regarding delimitation. He asserted that the demand for ‘One Nation, One Election’ is aimed at weakening regional parties, and the Samajwadi Party will not support such efforts.

Regarding the ongoing encounters in Uttar Pradesh, Chand addressed comments made by SP leader Abu Azmi, emphasizing that questions about these encounters and ‘half-encounters’ are being raised consistently. He claimed that data from the PDA audit released by Akhilesh Yadav shows disproportionate actions against the PDA community.

On the issue of paper leaks and the functioning of the NTA, Chand remarked that conducting exams is the responsibility of the government and the NTA. He mentioned that an investigation is underway under the Supreme Court‘s supervision, indicating a lack of trust in the government’s inquiry. He accused the BJP government of eroding the confidence of youth and candidates in the examination system.

In response to Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s statement about not accepting betrayal and violence in the name of friendship, Chand highlighted two recent incidents in which friends killed their own companions. He criticized the media’s focus on religious angles in certain cases, arguing that it distracts from real issues like unemployment, inflation, and law and order.

Chand also commented on the controversy surrounding the CBSE exams, stating that few exams have escaped issues during the BJP’s tenure. He stressed that education should remain free from political interference.

Regarding the stabbing incident of a minor in Usmanpur, Delhi, Chand condemned all such occurrences, whether in Uttar Pradesh or Delhi, and called for strict action against the perpetrators.

He addressed the planned protest in Kolkata against the attack on TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee, stating that attacks on elected representatives are happening openly in Bengal. He affirmed that the entire INDIA alliance stands with Mamata Banerjee on this issue.

On Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath’s announcement of land ownership certificates for displaced families from Pakistan, ex-servicemen, and leaseholders in Bijnor, Chand remarked that providing homes to all citizens is the government’s responsibility. However, he criticized the BJP for demolishing the homes of the poor and common people in BJP-ruled states.

In response to the request for suggestions regarding the Uniform Civil Code in Madhya Pradesh, Chand argued that the government should seek input on unemployment, inflation, farmers’ issues, and law and order instead. He accused BJP-ruled states of avoiding discussions on employment, education, and inflation, focusing solely on religious issues.

Reacting to Yogi Adityanath’s statement that “the cow is our mother, not an animal,” Chand emphasized the need to respect all religious sentiments but questioned the government’s stance on Uttar Pradesh’s significant share in meat exports. He accused the BJP of using religious issues to evade discussions on unemployment, inflation, and farmers’ and laborers’ concerns.

In response to Om Prakash Rajbhar’s social media post stating, “Akhilesh Yadav, I am not afraid of you,” Chand pointed out that Rajbhar remains silent on the murders of members of his community. He alleged that Rajbhar fears questioning the BJP and is benefiting from power. Chand affirmed that the Samajwadi Party will continue to raise such issues and bring the public’s concerns to the forefront.
