New Delhi, July 16: BJP national spokesperson RP Singh made significant remarks on various national and political issues on Wednesday. He addressed comments made by Congress leader Saifuddin Soz regarding Article 370, as well as statements by Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath about Ram Leela and the Kanwar Yatra. Singh also discussed the proposed Uniform Civil Code (UCC) draft in Madhya Pradesh.
Regarding Saifuddin Soz’s call for the reinstatement of Article 370, Singh stated that Soz is not just discussing Article 370 and 35A but is also advocating for Jammu and Kashmir’s autonomy and self-governance. He noted that this stance is not new for Congress leaders, who have remained silent on the issue. Singh accused Congress of engaging in Muslim appeasement politics, suggesting that they fail to see beyond this agenda.
On Yogi Adityanath’s comments about Ram Leela and the Kanwar Yatra, Singh highlighted that history shows Congress previously imposed restrictions on the Kanwar Yatra and questioned the existence of Lord Ram. He referenced Kapil Sibal, who had sought to delay the Ram Temple case hearings and is now a member of the Rajya Sabha. Singh asserted that Congress and its allies share a common mindset aimed at undermining Sanatan traditions.
Supporting the proposed mandatory registration of live-in relationships in the UCC draft, Singh argued that this is a necessary step given current social conditions. He emphasized that just as marriages are registered, live-in relationships should also be documented to protect women, especially daughters, from potential adverse situations.
In response to Congress leader P. Chidambaram’s claims regarding delimitation and women’s reservation, Singh countered that Congress betrays its allies while blaming the BJP. He reiterated the BJP’s ongoing appeal for support of the women’s reservation law, criticizing Congress for its historically anti-women policies.
Commenting on the recent departures of senior TMC leaders Madan Mitra and Anubrata Mandal, Singh noted that Mitra has accused former Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee of neglecting other party leaders due to favoritism towards her nephew. This has led to a series of exits from the TMC.
On the internal strife within Punjab Congress, Singh remarked that the party is failing to manage its own organization. He cited Congress leader Bhupesh Baghel’s acknowledgment that the situation is not a simple “puppet show.” Singh pointed out that the imposition of a state president has caused discontent among senior leaders like Charanjit Singh Channi and Sukjinder Singh Randhawa. He criticized Rahul Gandhi for not addressing the party’s internal crises.
In support of Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s statement on the comprehensive economic and trade agreement between India and the UK, Singh asserted that this deal will significantly benefit farmers, micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs), and Indian exporters. He explained that the agreement will allow for duty-free exports of Indian products across various sectors, providing a direct economic boost to Indian agriculture and the MSME sector. Singh concluded that this agreement will strengthen India’s economy and enhance its competitive position in global trade.
