Gandhinagar, October 5 (Daily Kiran) : Rohan Gupta, the National Secretary of the BJP, has taken aim at the Congress party, criticizing its leaders for their comments regarding the Supreme Court‘s hearings on petitions against Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar. He particularly pointed to Captain Smrit Machhar, a celebrated figure recognized globally for his bravery, and lamented Congress’s silence on honoring such national heroes.
Gupta remarked that while global leaders have acknowledged Machhar’s valor, Congress has failed to recognize him even with a single word. He expressed disappointment that political interests overshadow the respect owed to the nation’s heroes. “If politics interferes even in honoring our brave soldiers, it is a matter of shame,” he stated.
The BJP leader further questioned why Congress hesitated to commend Machhar when leaders worldwide celebrated his achievements. He asserted that the public would not accept such political maneuvering.
In addition, Gupta criticized Congress leader Digvijaya Singh’s recent foot march, recalling Singh’s controversial past remarks that included references to “Hindu terrorism.” He accused Singh of raising questions about Hindus in the context of national attacks, questioning the moral grounds for Singh to now advocate for Hinduism and Sanatan Dharma. Gupta claimed that Congress has historically shielded those who oppose Sanatan beliefs while standing alongside those who question the existence of Lord Ram.
He also addressed the Supreme Court’s refusal to immediately suspend Gyanesh Kumar, emphasizing that the court has clarified its stance and urged against unnecessary political debates on the matter. Gupta pointed out that opposition parties often blame institutions like the Election Commission after electoral defeats instead of accepting their losses.
He noted that while there may be flaws in the electoral process, blaming the Election Commission for every defeat is unjustified. Gupta highlighted the inconsistency in Congress’s approach, where it praises electoral processes in states it wins but criticizes them in states it loses.
Gupta further remarked that in states like Kerala, Karnataka, and Telangana, where Congress holds power, it does not raise concerns about election processes, showcasing a reluctance to accept electoral defeats gracefully.
He accused Congress of undermining the dignity of constitutional institutions and emphasized that political parties should focus on facts before making allegations. Gupta concluded by referencing the recent student union elections at Delhi University, where Congress faced defeat despite its political efforts, questioning whether the party would also blame other institutions for this loss. He urged the opposition to reflect on its strategies and internal shortcomings, warning that the public is increasingly aware of this blame-shifting mentality.
