BJP Responds to TMC Allegations Amid Rising Political Tensions in West Bengal

New Delhi, May 30: Political tensions are escalating in West Bengal following an attack on TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee. Several leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have reacted to the incident, attributing it to public anger. However, they have denied endorsing any form of violence.

BJP spokesperson RP Singh stated that Banerjee should understand the level of public discontent. He claimed that the individual Banerjee visited had been murdered and was involved in drug-related issues, which fueled local resentment.

Singh noted that this anger was evident when protesters threw eggs at Banerjee during his visit.

Economist and BJP leader Gaurav Vallabh also weighed in, emphasizing that violence is unacceptable in a democracy and that the BJP does not support it. He advised Mamata Banerjee and Abhishek Banerjee to reflect on the situation, suggesting that those who attacked them were reportedly their own party workers.

Meanwhile, BJP MP Soumitra Khan from Bankura described the incident as an expression of public outrage. He praised the police for their active role that day, which he believes prevented a more serious incident.

Khan commended the security arrangements that kept the situation under control and avoided any major mishaps.

On the other hand, West Bengal Minister Kshudiram Tudu dismissed the BJP’s allegations. He stated that Abhishek Banerjee was provided police protection and asserted that the BJP does not believe in politics of violence.

Tudu remarked that if the BJP relied on violence for political gain, it would not have secured 208 seats in West Bengal.

Following the attack on Abhishek Banerjee, a cycle of accusations has intensified in the state’s political landscape, with various parties interpreting the incident through their own lenses.
