New Delhi, August 22: BJP MP Yogendra Chandelia has criticized Congress and Rahul Gandhi for allegedly politicizing student-related issues. He claims that the Congress party is using these concerns for political gain. However, he emphasized that if the students’ demands are valid, the government should listen seriously and address them.
Chandelia’s remarks came in response to Rahul Gandhi’s ‘Students’ Echo’ program held in Pune, where he raised issues concerning students. In a conversation in New Delhi, Chandelia pointed out that despite the Congress-supported government in Jharkhand, there was violence against students, yet Rahul Gandhi did not respond. In contrast, with the BJP in power in Maharashtra, Rahul Gandhi is addressing student issues in Pune. He argued that rather than using these problems for political advantage, the focus should be on finding solutions.
Questioning Rahul Gandhi’s role, Chandelia stated that it is inappropriate to politicize student issues in this manner. He also criticized Congress regarding the national song ‘Vande Mataram,’ which was written nearly 150 years ago and is tied to the country’s sentiments. He asserted that if the government has made a decision regarding ‘Vande Mataram,’ it should be sung accordingly.
Chandelia accused Congress of disrespecting the national song by deciding to sing only two verses during a meeting. He suggested that if Congress had objections to this decision, they should have raised the issue in Parliament. He also criticized Sonia Gandhi in this context.
On the rising sugar prices, Chandelia stated that such situations arise from time to time, and the government is monitoring the situation. He assured that measures related to imports and exports would be taken to control prices, and the government is committed to addressing the sugar price issue.
Regarding the situation of students in Ranchi, Chandelia claimed that students are aware of who genuinely supports them and who is merely engaging in politics. He also referenced the protests led by the CJP in Delhi, targeting both Congress and the Aam Aadmi Party, accusing them of exploiting these issues for political gain.
