Over 30 Schoolchildren Fall Ill After Lunch in Indore, Madhya Pradesh

Indore, August 22: In a concerning incident in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, over 30 schoolchildren fell ill after consuming their midday meal. The incident occurred at a government school in the Sanver area, specifically in the village of Singhana, where students were served khichdi as part of the Midday Meal Scheme.

Initial reports indicate that 19 children have been admitted to Arvindo Hospital, with four placed in the ICU as a precaution. More than 30 other children are currently under medical observation.

An official stated that shortly after eating, many children complained of stomach pain, dizziness, headaches, vomiting, and fever. The school staff promptly informed parents and the district administration.

Affected children were quickly transported to Arvindo Hospital. A senior doctor at the hospital confirmed that no child’s condition is serious. Under anonymity, a doctor mentioned that four children are in the ICU for close monitoring, while others are being observed for six hours, with their conditions stable.

The simultaneous illness of several children after consuming the same meal has raised suspicions of food poisoning, although officials have yet to confirm the exact cause. A district administration official reported that food samples have been collected and sent for laboratory testing.

Following the incident, a team from the Indore health department visited the school to inspect and collect food samples served to the children. An official noted that further action will be based on the laboratory reports of the food samples.

This incident has caused panic among parents, many of whom rushed to the hospital upon hearing the news about their children. All affected children are currently under medical supervision, and their conditions are being closely monitored.
