New Delhi, July 15: BJP MP Manoj Tiwari commented on the upcoming monsoon session of Parliament and the Congress party’s allegations regarding the delimitation bill. He also addressed issues such as OBC reservations in West Bengal, a reported sexual assault incident involving a first-grade student in West Midnapore, the Trinamool Congress’s ‘Shaheed Diwas’ on July 21, and the meeting between Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Shiv Sena MPs. Tiwari emphasized that all political parties should rise above politics and collaborate on matters of national interest.
Regarding the upcoming monsoon session, Tiwari stated that any bill introduced by the central government aims to benefit the country and its citizens. He expressed confidence that the bills presented in Parliament would receive support from all MPs. He urged opposition members to set aside political differences and support the government on issues of national importance. Parliament serves as a platform for democratic discussion, and bills that serve the country’s interests should be backed.
In response to senior Congress leader P. Chidambaram’s allegations that the BJP is seeking support from parties like NCP (Sharad Pawar faction) and DMK to pass the delimitation bill, Tiwari remarked that there should be no objection if any political party supports a bill in the national interest. He noted that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has established himself as an influential leader not only in India but globally. If various parties reach consensus with the government on a bill considering national interest, it should be welcomed.
On the issue of OBC reservations in West Bengal, Tiwari criticized the state’s Trinamool Congress government. He accused the state government of including certain groups in the OBC list without proper surveys, leading to disputes over eligibility. Any future decisions should be based on thorough processes and necessary consultations to ensure that deserving individuals receive their rights.
Regarding the alleged sexual assault incident involving a first-grade student in West Midnapore, Tiwari stated that politics should not play a role in such cases. He emphasized that criminals have no religion or caste, and no guilty party should be spared. If the government fails to act, the opposition raises questions, and even when the government does take action, it faces criticism. Those found guilty of serious crimes like sexual assault should face stringent legal consequences.
On the Trinamool Congress’s ‘Shaheed Diwas’ event scheduled for July 21, Tiwari remarked that decisions regarding internal party matters should be made by the Trinamool Congress itself. If there are differences among various factions within the party, it is their internal issue regarding who will lead the event and how it will be organized. The BJP has no involvement in this matter.
Addressing questions about the meeting between Maharashtra’s Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and several MPs with Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Tiwari stated that Shah is the Home Minister of the country, and representatives from any party can meet him. MPs and representatives frequently meet with central ministers regarding development work, administrative issues, or other public interest matters. Therefore, such meetings should not be given unnecessary political significance. In a democratic system, it is normal for representatives to meet with senior government ministers.
