Patna, July 15: In a bold statement regarding the upcoming Bankipur Assembly by-election, RJD spokesperson Mritunjay Tiwari asserted that the BJP’s stronghold in Bankipur will be dismantled on August 3. He emphasized that the public has decided to support the RJD candidate in this election.
During a conversation in Patna, Tiwari expressed confidence that there will be no competition in the Bankipur by-election. He believes the results will favor the RJD, as the electorate stands behind Tejashwi Yadav’s policies and the Mahagathbandhan-supported candidate Rekha Gupta. “The BJP’s fortress will surely fall on August 3,” he stated.
Regarding the Supreme Court’s refusal to revoke the bail of RJD leader Lalu Prasad Yadav in the fodder scam case, Tiwari remarked that justice ultimately prevails in the temple of justice. He acknowledged that while there may be delays, justice cannot be denied. After the Supreme Court’s ruling, he urged the public to observe how matters unfold, asserting that truth can be troubled but never defeated.
Tiwari also commented on the Supreme Court’s inaction in the Bharat Tiwari case in Bihar, stating that he cannot comment on the court’s decisions.
On the recent decision to ban non-vegetarian food at KGMU in Uttar Pradesh, Tiwari criticized the BJP-led government, suggesting that Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath can impose any decision, from renaming districts to banning non-veg meals in colleges.
He further highlighted a recent incident of alleged donation theft in Ayodhya, calling on CM Yogi to provide a transparent explanation.
The nomination process for the Bankipur Assembly by-election has concluded, with voters set to cast their ballots on July 30. The results will be announced on August 3. This election sees a fierce contest between candidates from BJP-Janasuraj and RJD. In the 2025 Assembly elections, BJP’s current national president Nitin Nabin won by a record margin. Following his appointment to the Rajya Sabha, he resigned from the Bankipur seat, leading to this by-election.
