BJP MP Jagdambika Pal Praises NDA Government for Curbing Naxalism

New Delhi, April 1: BJP MP Jagdambika Pal launched a sharp attack on Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the issue of Naxalism. He accused the previous Congress-led United Progressive Alliance (UPA) government of allowing left-wing extremism to spread across several states. In contrast, he praised the stringent measures taken under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, which he claims have significantly reduced its spread.

Speaking to reporters, Pal stated that Gandhi’s public statements and social media posts reflect a lack of seriousness. “Rahul Gandhi is posting online but not attending Parliament,” he remarked. He further noted that Home Minister Amit Shah had recently pointed out that individuals associated with Maoist ideology were seen alongside Congress leaders during the ‘Bharat Jodo Yatra.’

Pal also alleged that in recent years, there have been incidents in educational institutions that indicate support for Maoist elements. Referring to past controversies, he claimed that celebrations occurred in some areas when 76 CRPF personnel were killed, which he described as indicative of a troubling mindset.

He emphasized that Naxalism, which he characterized as a movement based on violence and armed conflict, has claimed the lives of over 20,000 innocent people in recent years. According to him, during the UPA government’s tenure, the so-called ‘Red Corridor’ expanded into more than ten states, posing a significant challenge to internal security.

Pal criticized the National Advisory Council, which operated under Sonia Gandhi during the UPA era, alleging that it interfered in anti-Maoist operations. He claimed that some members of the council were sympathetic to Maoist objectives, which hindered decisive action against what he termed ‘Red Terror.’

Citing Home Minister Shah’s comments, the BJP leader stated that the NDA government’s tough stance has led to a significant reduction in Maoist influence. He noted that areas previously affected by left-wing extremism are now witnessing development projects. “Today, in those same states, schools are being built in villages, hospitals are being opened, skill development centers are being established, and mobile towers are being installed,” he said, stressing that good governance and development have replaced fear and instability in these regions.

Pal concluded by asserting that if the NDA government had not come to power under PM Modi, Naxalism could have spread even further across the country. He held Congress, the UPA government, and Rahul Gandhi responsible for the earlier expansion of Maoist influence.
