IPL 2026: Gill and Buttler Shine as Gujarat Titans Set 163-Run Target for Punjab Kings

New Chandigarh, April 1: Gujarat Titans have set a target of 163 runs for Punjab Kings in the fourth match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026, held at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium in Mullanpur.

After losing the toss and opting to bat, Gujarat Titans scored 162 runs, losing 6 wickets in the process. The opening partnership between Sai Sudharsan and captain Shubman Gill provided a solid start, accumulating 37 runs in just 3.4 overs. Sudharsan contributed 13 runs off 11 balls before being dismissed.

Following this, Gill formed a crucial second-wicket partnership with Jos Buttler, adding 46 runs in 35 balls, which placed the team in a strong position. Gill scored 39 runs off 27 balls, including 6 sixes, before getting out. Buttler then partnered with Glenn Phillips for the third wicket, adding 36 runs to take the team past the century mark. Buttler finished with 38 runs off 33 balls. Additionally, Phillips contributed 25 runs, while Washington Sundar added 18 runs.

In the final over, fast bowler Arshdeep Singh bowled a total of 11 balls, which included 4 wides and 1 no-ball, conceding 12 runs in that over.

For Punjab Kings, Vijaykumar Vaishak was the standout bowler, taking 3 wickets for 34 runs, while Yuzvendra Chahal claimed 2 wickets. Marco Jansen also took 1 wicket.

The Titans have given a debut opportunity to 23-year-old fast bowler Ashok Sharma, who impressed during the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy with speeds reaching 150 km/h. Fans will be keen to see how Ashok performs in this match.

Under Shubman Gill’s captaincy, Gujarat Titans featured players such as Sai Sudharsan, Jos Buttler (wicketkeeper), Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips, M Shahrukh Khan, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Kagiso Rabada, Ashok Sharma, and Mohammed Siraj.

On the other hand, Punjab Kings, led by Shreyas Iyer, included Prabhsimran Singh (wicketkeeper), Cooper Connolly, Nehal Wadhera, Shashank Singh, Marcus Stoinis, Marco Jansen, Javier Bartlett, Vijaykumar Vaishak, Arshdeep Singh, and Yuzvendra Chahal in their lineup.
