Jyotiraditya Scindia Meets Nitin Gadkari to Discuss Road Projects

New Delhi, April 1: Union Minister Jyotiraditya Scindia met with Union Minister for Road Transport and Highways Nitin Gadkari in the national capital on Tuesday.

During their meeting, the leaders discussed several key projects aimed at enhancing road connectivity and infrastructure in the Gwalior-Chambal region and other parts of Madhya Pradesh.

They reviewed the progress of significant projects such as the Gwalior-Agra Expressway, which has a budget of ₹4,822 crores, and the Gwalior Western Bypass, costing ₹1,347 crores. Additionally, they deliberated on the construction of a four-lane road on the Gwalior-Bhind-Itawa National Highway (NH-719).

Notably, a delegation of saints and religious leaders from Bhind had previously expressed their dissatisfaction with the slow progress of work on this route and the rising number of road accidents. In response, Scindia proposed that the project be completed by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) instead of the Madhya Pradesh Road Development Corporation (MPRDC).

Scindia stated on Tuesday, “As soon as we receive approval from the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways in April, the tender process will begin immediately, and NHAI will expedite construction work.”

The discussion also covered proposals for the construction and upgrading of several major roads. This includes a nearly 45-kilometer road in the Pichor area of Shivpuri district, extending from Bithargav to Kamalpur, Mangawali, Padra, Muda, Raghunathpur, Amarpur, Lalan, Khirkhit, Tyaga-Khajuri, Dongar, and Kishanganj, leading to Nayagaon.

Similarly, proposals were made for upgrading a 47-kilometer road in the Mungawali area of Ashoknagar district, connecting the Ashoknagar-Vidisha route through Kanjia, Bamuriya, Kherkhedi, Badora, Simroha, and Baskhedi. Additionally, a proposal for constructing a 22.5-kilometer road in the Chanderi area, connecting New Sarai to Badodara via the Aravali route, was also presented.

Furthermore, discussions took place regarding the upgrade of approximately 42 kilometers of road in the Bamori area of Guna district, particularly under the Anandpur-Nihalgarh road widening project.

Representing the Guna Lok Sabha seat in Madhya Pradesh, Scindia remarked, “The implementation of these projects will facilitate transportation and commuting at both rural and regional levels, while also boosting local economic activities in the Gwalior-Chambal region.”
