Lucknow, April 1: The Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections in 2027 are still some time away, but Samajwadi Party (SP) chief Akhilesh Yadav has already kicked off the campaign with a rally in Dadri. The BJP has dismissed this rally as a failure, prompting a strong rebuttal from SP leaders.
SP legislator Ravidas Mehrotra described the rally as historic and massive, claiming its success has left BJP leaders anxious. In an interview from Lucknow, Mehrotra stated that Akhilesh Yadav’s rally in Dadri was impressive, causing turmoil within the BJP ranks. He accused the BJP of spreading misleading statements against the SP, asserting that they are opposed to the PDA community.
Mehrotra confidently predicted that the Samajwadi Party would form the government in 2027, with Akhilesh Yadav returning as Chief Minister. He emphasized that Yadav’s popularity is on the rise, which has unsettled the BJP.
In response to Mehrotra’s comments, Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya delivered a sharp retort. Posting on the social media platform X, he criticized the SP for what he termed “opportunistic politics.” Maurya highlighted the irony of the SP, which he claimed has blood on its hands from Ram devotees, now pretending to champion Ram devotion. He argued that if the SP truly respected faith, they would advocate for the construction of a grand temple at the Krishna Janmabhoomi site and raise their voices against Babri supporters. Maurya concluded that the SP would fail to win the trust of either Hindus or Muslims in 2027, ultimately losing their so-called “vote bank.”
