New Delhi, February 17: BJP MP Dinesh Sharma has responded to the opposition’s criticism during the AI Summit. He stated that the opposition cannot tolerate India’s progress.

In an interview, Sharma remarked that as India begins to emerge as a global leader, opposition parties will question why the nation is taking such a prominent role. He emphasized that the opposition will always resist India’s advancement, as their primary role seems to be opposition itself. He noted that while the nation has become the world’s fourth-largest economy, the opposition is more concerned with making headlines in Pakistan and China.

Sharma pointed out that the government is working to double farmers’ incomes, while the opposition seeks to incite unrest among farmers, hindering developmental goals. He declared that the Congress-led opposition is the biggest speed breaker in India’s development journey.

Addressing comments made by Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar, Sharma stated that the Congress party has become a battleground of contradictions. Discontent regarding leadership and policies is evident among its leaders, surfacing periodically through figures like Shashi Tharoor, Digvijaya Singh, and now Aiyar.

He asserted that a party with internal disagreements on policies and principles cannot sustain itself for long. Under PM Modi’s leadership, there is a focus on inclusive development, and caste-based discrimination is being eradicated.

Referring to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Sharma expressed that Sarma’s statements remain within constitutional boundaries, as he is among those who respect the Constitution. He added that commenting on judicial remarks is inappropriate.

Sharma criticized Congress and Mamata Banerjee for trying to outdo each other in appeasement politics. He highlighted that under their government, ration is provided to all without discrimination based on caste. He asserted that while their government prioritizes education, the opposition resorts to appeasement for electoral gains, having done little for minority welfare. The BJP, he stated, does not view Hindus and Muslims through a divisive lens, advocating for equal justice for all without appeasement.
