BJP Leaders Reject Claims of LPG Crisis Affecting Migrant Workers in Delhi

New Delhi, April 5: Delhi BJP Vice President Dinesh Pratap Singh and Purvanchal Morcha President Santosh Ojha issued a joint statement on Sunday, condemning the misleading remarks made by Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLA Sanjeev Jha regarding LPG supply in the city.

The BJP leaders dismissed Jha’s assertion that the LPG crisis is causing livelihood issues for migrant workers from Purvanchal and other states residing in Delhi, potentially forcing them to leave the city and lose their voting rights.

Ojha and Singh accused the AAP leader of fabricating and misleading statements for political gain. They emphasized that the number of migrant workers leaving Delhi due to gas shortages is negligible.

The Delhi BJP highlighted that the migrant community in the city has not forgotten how, during the COVID lockdown, the then Arvind Kejriwal-led Delhi government forced migrants to return to their villages due to lack of livelihood and food arrangements.

Dinesh Pratap Singh and Santosh Ojha noted that both the central and Delhi governments, along with the BJP’s Ujjwala Yojana department, are actively working at the grassroots level to assist economically weaker sections in obtaining gas cylinders through bookings.

The BJP leaders also stated that the migrant workers from Purvanchal and other states are part of the BJP family, and the party stands with every legitimate voter. They further clarified that while there is a minor gas shortage, there is no serious crisis. Regular supply is available upon booking, and even commercial connection holders are now receiving about 75% of their regular supply. The central government has temporarily allowed cooking with coal as well.

Singh and Ojha added that the limited gas shortage in Delhi primarily affects those without valid gas connections, who have been relying on illegal refilling of small cylinders from the open market.
