Kolkata, June 7: The political landscape in West Bengal has intensified following the arrest of Shaukat Molla, a leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) and former MLA from the Canning East constituency, by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) in connection with the Bhangar blast case. In response, leaders from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have asserted that everyone is equal before the law and that wrongdoers must face the consequences of their actions.
BJP leader Subrata Thakur expressed support for the NIA’s actions, stating that strict measures should be taken against anyone who misuses public funds or engages in illegal activities. He emphasized the need for a fair investigation under the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and insisted that legal proceedings should follow based on the facts uncovered during the inquiry. Thakur stated that individuals found guilty should be punished according to the law.
BJP leader Sanjay Singh remarked that anyone who commits wrongdoing will inevitably face the law. He accused certain individuals of attempting to evade legal scrutiny through their influence for too long, but asserted that the rule of law is now being established. Singh noted that investigative agencies are performing their duties, and if evidence emerges against anyone, action is to be expected.
Additionally, BJP leader Ashok Kirtania commented that the consequences of wrongful actions must ultimately be faced. He alleged that the common people have been harassed in the state for an extended period, and now the law is taking its course. Kirtania stressed that no individual should receive leniency based on their political position or influence.
BJP leader Arun Halder made serious allegations against Shaukat Molla, claiming that his name has been associated with several controversial cases in Bengal. He called for a thorough investigation into the violent incidents in the Bhangar area and various criminal cases. Halder expressed hope that central agencies would uncover any larger networks or conspiracies involved.
BJP spokesperson Kaustav Bagchi also responded to the situation, asserting that investigative agencies should be allowed to operate freely. He claimed that further investigations could reveal significant facts. Bagchi emphasized the importance of uncovering the truth in any case and ensuring that actions are taken in accordance with the law.
