BJP Leaders Condemn Attack on TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee

Kolkata, May 31: Leaders from the West Bengal BJP have condemned the attack on TMC MP Abhishek Banerjee in Sonarpur. Union Minister Sukanta Majumdar stated that they do not support such undemocratic methods of protest. He added that the public is responding to Abhishek’s comments about playing DJ in their own way.

Speaking to reporters, Majumdar said, “The Bharatiya Janata Party condemns this attack on Abhishek. We do not support such undemocratic methods of protest, nor do we consider them acceptable. However, it is also true that there have been incidents against us before the elections.”

He continued, “Abhishek Banerjee made comments while standing on a vehicle, presenting himself as a ‘hero,’ stating that they would play DJ after a specific date and time. Now, if the public is responding to him in the same language, he must face the consequences of his own statements.”

In response to accusations blaming the BJP for the attack, Majumdar remarked, “Abhishek Banerjee will say a lot. This is TMC’s culture. The public has given a massive mandate to Suvendu Adhikari and made him the BJP’s Chief Minister. He should be told to remain silent, as there is no chance for him to become Chief Minister. I have previously predicted that the nephew will never become Chief Minister.”

Meanwhile, BJP MP Soumitra Khan, speaking to the media in Siliguri, stated, “If the BJP does not come to power, 5,000 of our youth would have been killed, and women’s dignity in North Bengal would be at stake. Abhishek Banerjee is a terrorist. He is a thief and a bandit.”

He asserted that the BJP had no involvement in the incident. He claimed that Abhishek’s comments about the DJ were the cause of this incident. “Abhishek is fine. He should have taken a good shower in the bathroom; otherwise, he should have been doused with cow dung,” he added.

It is noteworthy that local residents attacked TMC General Secretary and MP Abhishek Banerjee in Sonarpur while he was reportedly visiting families of TMC workers who were victims of post-election violence. Mamata Banerjee later took to social media to directly blame the BJP and the state government for the incident.
