Hyderabad, July 20: K. Karunasagar, a leader of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and lawyer at the Telangana High Court, has expressed serious concerns regarding the issue of religious conversion. He claims that organized efforts are being made to convert Hindus through various means. Karunasagar emphasized the need for society to be aware of this issue and urged people to remain vigilant.
In a recent discussion, Karunasagar alleged that attempts at conversion are being conducted under a campaign reportedly named ‘Mission Gazwa-e-Hind.’ He mentioned terms such as ‘Love Jihad,’ ‘Gym Jihad,’ and ‘Education Jihad,’ stressing the need for serious attention to these matters. However, he did not provide any public evidence to support his claims.
He stated that campaigns like ‘Ghar Wapsi’ aim to reconnect individuals with their original faith who have strayed from it. He believes it is essential to first make society aware of potential threats.
Karunasagar also referenced a recent school controversy where a teacher was accused of teaching religious verses outside the prescribed curriculum. He alleged that educational institutions should not be used to influence children. He asserted that schools should focus solely on curriculum-based education, not promote any specific religious tradition.
The BJP leader questioned the initial police action in this case, claiming that an FIR was only filed after protests and intervention from the National Human Rights Commission (NHRC). He mentioned that complaints have also been lodged with the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) and called for the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to investigate the entire matter.
Karunasagar further claimed that the nature of cases related to religious conversion has evolved over time, with such activities now being conducted through social and professional institutions. He cited several instances, insisting that they should be investigated impartially.
He urged the public to remain aware within the bounds of the law and report any suspicious activities to the relevant agencies. Additionally, he stated that any allegations of conversion or other illegal activities should be investigated fairly and legally.
