BJP Governments Tough Stance on Illegal Immigration, Thousands Preparing to Return to Bangladesh: Dilip Ghosh

Kolkata, May 28: West Bengal minister Dilip Ghosh has launched a strong attack on the previous state government amid the Eid celebrations. He addressed issues related to FIRs against Mamata Banerjee and her leaders in Siliguri, comments by Suvendu Adhikari on Bangladesh, and the controversy surrounding 30 lakh suspicious names in the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme.

Speaking to reporters, Ghosh stated, “In the past, illegal immigrants were given government benefits and citizenship certificates. However, due to the BJP government’s strict policy, the situation is changing. Previously, immigrants were brought here and provided various government facilities, but our government’s policy is clear: no foreign national residing illegally will be allowed to receive such benefits or stay here. Even without major actions, this firm stance has sent a clear message. Reports indicate that thousands are preparing to return to Bangladesh.”

When asked about the FIRs registered against Mamata Banerjee and her ministers in Siliguri, Ghosh remarked that many more FIRs should be filed. He said, “Several FIRs will be lodged against Mamata Banerjee, her ministers, and leaders. Given the comments made against Hinduism, the nation, the Constitution, and our national leaders, including the President and Prime Minister, the public should voice numerous complaints. All limits have been crossed.”

Regarding the Eid festivities, he emphasized that festivals of different religions should be celebrated, but they should not cause inconvenience to the general public. Ghosh also criticized the state government over the allegations of 30 lakh suspicious names in the Lakshmi Bhandar scheme, labeling it a part of a massive scam. He claimed the scheme has been misused to benefit illegal immigrants and fake beneficiaries.

The BJP leader accused the Mamata Banerjee government of providing political protection to immigrants from Bangladesh and stated that since the BJP came to power, measures have been taken to curb illegal immigration and identify foreign nationals residing illegally for action.
