BJP Files FIR Against Kharge for Poisonous Snake Remarks in Assam

Guwahati, April 7: The Assam unit of the BJP has lodged a police complaint against Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. The party alleges that Kharge delivered an inflammatory and derogatory speech during a rally in Neelabazar, Shribhoomi district, on April 6.

BJP spokesperson Ranjib Kumar Sharma filed the FIR at the Bashistha police station. The complaint states that Kharge referred to the ideologies of the BJP and RSS as ‘poisonous’ and likened them to ‘poisonous snakes.’ He also called for the elimination of the BJP.

The complainant expressed that Kharge’s statements have deeply hurt the sentiments of BJP workers and supporters. It is alleged that such remarks incite hatred and disrupt communal harmony, potentially leading to clashes among the indigenous people of Assam.

In his application to the police, Ranjib Kumar Sharma wrote, “Kharge is attempting to promote hostility and disturb public peace. Therefore, immediate legal action should be taken against him.” A link to the speech on social media was also attached as evidence with the FIR.

BJP leaders argue that Kharge’s statements not only insult the BJP and RSS but also create divisions within society. The party has demanded that police take swift action in this matter. The police have confirmed receipt of the complaint. The officer in charge of Bashistha police station stated that the complaint is under investigation, and appropriate action will be taken as per the law.

As of now, there has been no official response from the Congress regarding this incident. This event comes at a time when political activities in Assam are intensifying. The BJP has described it as a sign of Congress’s desperation, asserting that Kharge’s remarks are not only inappropriate but also against the unity and integrity of the nation.
