BJP Appoints Vinod Tawde as Uttar Pradesh In-Charge Ahead of 2027 Elections

New Delhi, August 18: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is ramping up its preparations for the Uttar Pradesh Assembly elections scheduled for 2027. On Tuesday, the party appointed National General Secretary Vinod Tawde as the in-charge for Uttar Pradesh, while Jagdish Ishwarbhai Patel has been designated as the co-in-charge for the state.

With these appointments, the BJP aims to strengthen its organizational structure and enhance its electoral strategy in Uttar Pradesh. The party is particularly focused on solidifying social and caste equations. As part of this initiative, leaders from the non-Yadav Other Backward Classes (OBC) and minority communities in Uttar Pradesh are being given increased representation in the national organization.

Vinod Tawde’s appointment is seen as significant due to his extensive experience in organizational and election management across various states. The party leadership considers Tawde’s organizational skills and his ability to coordinate effectively with alliance partners as crucial for his new role.

Tawde previously served as the election in-charge for the NDA’s presidential candidate, Droupadi Murmu, during the 2022 elections. He played a vital role in coordinating meetings across different states, establishing synergy with NDA allies and supporting parties.

Following this, he took on the responsibility of coordinating the election campaign for NDA candidate C.P. Radhakrishnan during the 2025 vice-presidential elections, again focusing on collaboration with coalition partners and supporting parties.

Tawde has also been involved in organizational duties in Haryana, where he was appointed as the state in-charge in 2020, playing a key role in strengthening the party’s organization.

In 2022, he was entrusted with responsibilities in Bihar, where he became one of the BJP’s chief strategists. The party links Tawde’s strategic role to the political developments in 2023, which led to the formation of the NDA government, replacing the RJD-JDU coalition.

Under Tawde’s organizational guidance, the NDA performed strongly in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections in Bihar, followed by a significant victory in the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections.

As the BJP prepares for the 2027 Assembly elections in Uttar Pradesh, the focus is not only on strengthening the organization but also on enhancing its social equations. Tawde’s appointment as the state in-charge is viewed as a crucial step in the party’s upcoming electoral strategy.
