Moti Hari, March 3: The Bihar Police Headquarters has issued directives to all police superintendents to ensure the peaceful celebration of Holi and Ramadan. In a recent development, 37 trainee constables in East Champaran district were suspended by Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat for failing to report for duty during the Holi festival.
According to a statement from the East Champaran Police, the Bihar Police Headquarters had assigned various trainees from the Basic Training Center in Motihari to different police stations in light of the Holi celebrations. During an attendance check on March 2, it was found that 37 trainee constables were absent from duty or had not reported to their respective stations.
Such behavior during a sensitive festival like Holi reflects their negligence, indiscipline, and disregard for orders from senior officials. Consequently, all these trainee constables have been suspended with immediate effect and ordered to submit an explanation within seven days regarding the departmental action against them.
Superintendent of Police Swarn Prabhat emphasized that any unruly behavior, disturbances, or actions by anti-social elements during Holi will be dealt with strictly. He noted that police conducted flag marches in various police station areas to assert their presence and urged the public to celebrate Holi in a peaceful and harmonious manner.
He appealed to the community, stating that the police are fully alert. A warning was also issued regarding strict action against violators of the liquor ban and those disrupting public peace. The police are closely monitoring anti-social elements and will not tolerate any disruptions during the festival.
It is noteworthy that an additional 30,000 police personnel have been deployed across various sensitive districts in the state for Holi. All riot control equipment has been made available, and teams from the local police, special branch, and rapid action force are on standby.
