Weather Alert: Delhi to Experience Rain and Strong Winds with Yellow Alert Issued

Patna, July 21: As Bihar gears up for its upcoming Assembly Elections 2025, the monsoon session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly, commencing Monday, is expected to be highly charged and politically intense. With election preparations in full swing, the opposition parties, led by the RJD and other Grand Alliance members, are preparing to confront the NDA government on a series of contentious issues ranging from voter list irregularities to a spike in law and order incidents.

Monsoon Alert

Voter List Revision Sparks Political Controversy

One of the primary flashpoints is the special intensive revision of the voter list, conducted just months before the election. The opposition has alleged large-scale irregularities, with Leader of Opposition Tejashwi Yadav accusing the Election Commission of acting under pressure from the ruling BJP.

Tejashwi Yadav has claimed that, despite the Supreme Court’s observations, important identity documents such as Aadhaar cards and ration cards are being disregarded. He further alleged that around 35 lakh voters’ names have been removed from the electoral roll—raising serious concerns about voter suppression ahead of a crucial election.

The opposition plans to raise this issue aggressively on the first day of the session, which could result in a major uproar in the Assembly.

Law and Order: ‘Maharaksha Raj’ vs ‘Jungle Raj’

The law and order situation in Bihar is another critical issue that the opposition is expected to use to mount pressure on the Nitish Kumar-led government. The RJD, in a political counterattack, has dubbed the current state of affairs as “Maharaksha Raj”, accusing the administration of failing to curb criminal activities, and drawing parallels to the “Jungle Raj” allegations previously leveled against RJD regimes.

Several high-profile incidents are likely to be raised:

  • Criminal Chandan Mishra’s daylight murder at Paras Hospital

  • Businessman Gopal Khemka’s killing on July 4

  • Lawyer Jitendra Kumar’s murder in Patna on July 13

These incidents have sparked public outcry and are likely to be used by the opposition as evidence of deteriorating public safety under the current administration.

Government’s Tough Session Ahead

With the Assembly Elections approaching and public sentiment a key factor, the NDA government is expected to face strong criticism and tough questions during the monsoon session. The opposition is set to corner the government on governance, transparency, and public security, all of which will be under intense scrutiny during this high-stakes legislative gathering.

The session is also anticipated to be a platform for setting political narratives ahead of the election, with both camps attempting to influence public opinion.
