Patna, August 9: Bihar police arrested a man on Sunday in Khagaria district for impersonating an IAS officer and defrauding local villagers. The suspect has been identified as Manish Kumar.
According to police reports, Kumar deceived people by using fake identity cards labeled ‘Government of India’ on his personal vehicles. His fraudulent activities raised suspicions among some locals, prompting them to file a complaint with the police, which led to his arrest.
A police team, under the leadership of Khagaria’s Superintendent of Police (SP), was formed based on multiple complaints regarding his impersonation as an IAS officer. During interrogation, Kumar claimed to have connections with the Central Vigilance Commission and even alleged to be a secret agent for National Security Advisor Ajit Doval. However, police found these claims to be false. They also seized a fake identity card that identified him as an IAS officer.
During the raid, police recovered approximately 31 liters of foreign liquor from the suspect’s home, along with two deer antlers, which is a clear violation of wildlife protection laws.
Additionally, authorities confiscated a Tesla car and a Tata Safari with a ‘Government of India’ tag. The Tesla is equipped with advanced features, including fully automated driving capabilities.
The police also recovered five Apple mobile phones, two laptops, 20 credit cards from various banks, eight debit cards, and four checkbooks during the investigation. They are currently examining the seized items and documents.
Reports suggest that Kumar’s assets may extend beyond Bihar, potentially into other states and even abroad. However, these claims are still under verification.
Authorities stated that the case is not limited to merely creating a fake identity to mislead people. Investigations are also underway regarding financial transactions and properties linked to the suspect. Legal action is being pursued following his arrest.
