Vijayawada, August 9: Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu announced on Sunday that the coalition government is working to ensure that every tribal family has access to safe drinking water and housing by 2027.
To reduce reliance on traditional methods, such as carrying patients in ‘dolis’ from remote tribal areas, the government has arranged for feeder ambulances and mobile medical units (108 and 104). Cell towers are also being installed to enhance digital connectivity in tribal regions.
Speaking at a meeting on the occasion of International Indigenous Peoples Day, he emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting the rights and welfare of tribal communities.
Naidu announced that skill training will be provided to 150,000 tribal youth to enhance their employment and livelihood opportunities. Special efforts will also be made to prepare tribal students for competitive exams.
He stated that the 19 Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) signed during the event will benefit approximately 60,000 individuals, opening new avenues for livelihood and development. The government has created three districts focusing on tribal communities to ensure better administrative priority.
The Chief Minister mentioned that the government previously introduced ‘GO Number 3’ to secure employment opportunities for locals in tribal areas. This order was later revoked, and the current administration is exploring options to protect job opportunities for local tribal youth.
He urged tribal communities to turn their aspirations into reality and make their personal successes part of nation-building.
Naidu highlighted that tribal communities have demonstrated extraordinary success while preserving their culture and traditions when given opportunities.
He referenced President Droupadi Murmu’s inspiring journey from a simple tribal woman to becoming a minister and governor in Odisha, ultimately reaching the highest constitutional position in the country.
With Independence Day approaching, he encouraged citizens to reflect on their contributions to society and the nation. Naidu stated that every diligent individual, whether a farmer, self-employed woman, student, teacher, employee, or entrepreneur, contributes to national development.
He called on citizens to work with the spirit of “My Country, My State, My Village, and My Family.” He emphasized that serving society is the highest form of patriotism. Every honest worker is an asset to society.
The Chief Minister revealed that the state government has allocated ₹4,764 crore for the comprehensive development of 2.739 million tribal individuals. Special attention is being given to improving living standards, infrastructure, employment, livelihoods, and skill development through Integrated Tribal Development Agencies (ITDAs).
In mission mode, 2,336 tribal habitations are being connected by road. Under the ‘Adavi Talli Bata’ initiative, roads spanning 905 kilometers have been constructed at a cost of ₹1,000 crore.
Naidu noted that the government laid the foundation for establishing Araku Coffee as a major brand 25 years ago, and it has now become a global brand. The government is promoting coffee cultivation on 100,000 acres and transforming agency areas into major brand destinations for commercial crops like coffee, black pepper, and turmeric.
