Shahdol, August 9: A heartwarming and emotional incident has emerged from Sohagpur in Shahdol district, Madhya Pradesh. A retired soldier has announced a reward of ₹21,000 for anyone who can help him find his lost pet parrot. This appeal has quickly gone viral on social media.
Chandan Mishra, who resides near the Banganga Mela ground, expressed his deep sorrow in a video after his parrot flew away. Initially, the family had offered a reward of ₹11,000 for the parrot’s return, but in a hopeful gesture, they increased the amount to ₹21,000 on Sunday.
In the video, Chandan shared that he brought the small parrot from Amarkantak in the neighboring Anuppur district about a year ago. The family has cared for it with love, and it has become a beloved member of their household. They affectionately call it ‘Gopi’ and ‘Mithu.’ The parrot is green with a black ring around its neck and distinctive feathers on its back.
According to the retired soldier, the parrot mimics family members’ voices and can even speak a few words. These unique features and its appearance have been detailed in posters shared on social media to help people identify it easily.
On Saturday, the family’s children were playing with the parrot when it suddenly flew away and vanished. By evening, they hoped it would return on its own, but when that didn’t happen, they searched nearby rooftops, trees, and other areas without success.
An emotional Chandan Mishra has vowed to fast until Gopi safely returns home. The family has also contacted a local priest to arrange a special ritual for the parrot’s safe return.
This heartfelt appeal and reward announcement have captured the attention of social media users, with many sharing posters and videos in hopes of locating the talking parrot and reuniting it with its owner.
