Ranchi, August 9: The protests by students in Jharkhand over alleged irregularities and paper leaks in recruitment exams continue unabated. On the 16th day of the movement, actor and theater artist Piyush Mishra met with demonstrators at the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium in Ranchi. Following his meeting with the students, he expressed his hope that the ongoing dispute between the government and the students would soon be resolved.
Speaking to the media, Mishra said, “I felt very good coming here to meet all of you. I met everyone and had a great time, which is why I came back today.”
He added, “I have a meeting scheduled for Monday afternoon, and I hope that efforts will be made to resolve this issue through dialogue. The government has to manage the state and faces its own constraints and possibilities. Therefore, I hope the government will find a way to address the students’ demands.”
Mishra praised the peaceful demeanor of the protesting students, stating, “The students have maintained peace during the protests so far, and I hope no unpleasant situations arise in the future. It is essential to carry the movement forward peacefully, as any untoward incident could impact the entire situation.”
Previously, Mishra had visited the Jaipal Singh Munda Stadium to meet the protesting students. During that visit, he mentioned, “After watching the students’ interviews on social media, I was moved by their situation. Seeing the pain and distress in their eyes made me decide to come to Ranchi. I have no political agenda for being here; I came to stand with the youth.”
At the protest site, Mishra also sang the popular song “Aarambh Hai Prachand” from his film “Gulaal.” As he began to sing, the protesting students joined in, filling the atmosphere with enthusiasm and energy.
The student organizations have been protesting for several days against alleged irregularities in recruitment exams in Jharkhand. The demonstrators claim that there have been consistent delays in organizing these exams, along with complaints of paper leaks and other discrepancies. They are raising questions about the 14th JPSC preliminary exam and the JSSC recruitment exams.
The protesters are demanding the cancellation of the 14th JPSC preliminary exam, a fair investigation into the alleged irregularities, and reforms in the recruitment exam system. Some organizations have also called for a probe by central agencies like the CBI and ED.
There have been several rounds of discussions between the government and student organizations during this period. On Saturday, a five-member committee from the government met with representatives from various student organizations. The government has stated that it is considering the suggestions from students and other stakeholders to formulate future policies. However, consensus on all demands has yet to be reached.
