Bihar Engineer Raided by EOU for Alleged Disproportionate Assets

Mumbai, June 24: The Economic Offenses Unit (EOU) in Bihar has launched simultaneous raids on six locations linked to Pawan Kumar, a supervising engineer in the Building Construction Department, on allegations of possessing disproportionate assets. Initial findings indicate that Kumar has allegedly amassed assets worth ₹3.89 crore, exceeding his known income by 103.94 percent.

According to information released by the EOU, a case was registered against Kumar under EOU FIR No. 12/26 on June 23, 2026, following verification of the received information. The case has been filed under the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 (amended 2018), specifically Section 13(2) read with Section 13(1)(b).

Currently, Pawan Kumar serves as the supervising engineer in the Building Demarcation Circle-1 in Patna. He also holds the position of Director in the Demarcation Unit of the Patna Building Division, Bihar. The EOU’s verification revealed that Kumar has acquired assets approximately ₹3 crore 89 lakh 79 thousand beyond his known income. A search warrant was subsequently obtained from the Special Monitoring Court in Patna.

On Wednesday morning, the EOU initiated searches at six different locations, including Flat B-305 in Yamuna Niwas Apartment, North Shrikrishnapuri, Patna, his office in Patna, a residence in Anandgarh Colony, Bhagalpur, a flat in Noida Sector 75, another residential property in Noida, and a flat in Dwarka Sector 10, New Delhi.

The EOU stated that the raids are being conducted under the supervision of officers at the level of Deputy Superintendent of Police and Police Inspectors. During the searches, investigations are focusing on real estate, bank accounts, investments, cash, jewelry, and other documents. Currently, the search operations are ongoing, and the EOU has promised to share detailed information once the raids are completed.
